"Amber in Poland and in the world" by prof. dr. hab. Barbara Kosmowska-Ceranowicz a Polish-English publication showing the beauty, history and properties of amber. Written in a simple and accessible way. With the wealth of information this book can serve as a textbook for students and academic departments of earth sciences at universities and technical universities Written in a simple and accessible is addressed also to people professionally connected with processing of fossil resins and a big group of fans of this particular mineral, enjoying in our country extremely popular. Discusses the genesis, occurrence, nomenclature and processing succinite and other fossil resins in a worldwide perspective, the history of their presence in our culture and traditions associated with them, as well as research contained in the fossil resin organic material.

Prof. dr. Barbara Kosmowska-Ceranowicz - a trained geologist, a prominent researcher of amber. Since 1956 she has worked in the Museum of the Polish Academy of Sciences - in the years 1974 to 2007 and from 2008 to 2010 as Head of Amber, previously as head of the Department of Geology. The main subject of her research are deposits of amber and their spread in the world, and now the identification and determination method of fossil resins.

Barbara Kosmowska-Ceranowicz is a member of the Polish Geological Society. She was a founding member of the Working Group on Organic Minerals International Mineralogical Society, which operated from 1985 by nearly 25 years. She is a founding member and an expert in the field of amber and other fossil resins Polish Gemmological Association, the International Amber Association and the World Council of Amber in Gdansk, as well as a member of the Arbeitskreis Bernstein in Hamburg. Since 1993 also she works with organizers of the fair "Amberif" in Gdansk, and since 2001 the exhibition "Gold, Silver, Time" in Warsaw, the popularization of knowledge about amber. She is the author of about 250 scientific publications and popular with amber and a number of scenarios, national and international exhibitions. Consults many Polish and international research. Initiates and coordinates national and international interdisciplinary cooperation among researchers amber.
