Health and beauty. The most important advantages of succinic acid

October 14, 2018 /

Time and health are two precious treasures that we do not recognize and appreciate until they run out.

Amber is an extraordinary resin mineral, which, apart from its indisputable aesthetic properties, has been the subject of interest of health specialists, aesthetic medicine and cosmetologists for years. To go back to the beginnings of the analysis of amber and medicine, one should go back to antiquity, where amber was widely used in folk medicine [1,2]. It was believed that it protects against fever, tonsillitis or a sore throat. In the Arab world, it was a panacea, considered effective in various ailments [3]. Amber was used in various forms, solid, liquid, powdered or resinous (after heating).

One of the breakthrough dates is 1546, when G. Agricola, a German minerologist and physician, obtained succinic acid by dry distillation [4]. Today it is a well-researched substance and widely used in medicine or cosmetology. Baltic amber contains about 3-8%, mainly in external weed or "amber bark".

Succinic acid is a natural catalyst for cell transformation, so it can have significant properties for our health. Scientific studies confirm the action of the acid as a biostimulator. It stimulates the nervous system, regulates kidneys and intestines, is an anti-inflammatory and antitoxic agent. It can also be effective in the treatment of diseases of the nervous system, bronchi, rheumatic diseases and asthma [3].

Amber is also often used for the production of tinctures, which can be used for prophylaxis against myocardial pains, blood circulation problems, arterial pressure or heart failure [3,5].

Modern cosmetology, on the other hand, uses the bactericidal and antioxidant properties of amber. Succinic acid can act as a means of slowing or completely inhibiting the loss of ions, including potassium.

Amber ointments, oils and creams (for rheumatic, asthmatic or irritation ailments) are created. On the basis of amber, entire lines of preparations for face, body and hair care are produced. They support the fight against bacteria and free radicals and alleviate the effects of burns and insect bites [3]. Creams improve skin hydration and lubrication, increase its firmness and elasticity. Clearly reduce skin roughness and wrinkle depth, regenerating tired skin, stimulating its metabolism and preventing the formation of free radicals. These cosmetics are also attributed to soothing anxiety and nerves [3].

The use of amber for our health is therefore extremely wide, both for our physical and mental condition. In addition, beautiful amber jewelry can improve our appearance, shape the image, and thus affect social perception and well-being [6,7,8].
